About Emma Saunders
I am a Reiki Master Teacher and a Master Teacher member of the UK Reiki Federation. I work within the Usui System of Natural Healing, the Usui Shiki Ryoho. I run my own Reiki practice based in Upton, Wirral, Merseyside. I facilitate healing for people through the use of gentle, supportive, yet powerful techniques that help clients to improve their emotional well-being and physical health.
The energy that I channel to bring healing is Reiki energy. I also use meditation and visualisation techniques to support the process of change, progress, and release of problems and blocked emotions. I take a client-centred approach in my work as a Reiki Master Teacher. I provide the necessary support and guidance where appropriate within the parameters of my expertise as a Reiki Master, but I have absolute respect for the fact that it is your right to choose what you feel is most beneficial for you.
I also believe in taking a holistic approach to my work with clients. If a person comes to me primarily looking for emotional healing, I will also look at their levels of physical well-being in order to have a clear picture of how to help the whole person and vice versa. It is not so much about ridding ourselves of discomfort in the short term, rather, it is my desire to support you as you move towards rebalancing your whole being physically, spiritually and emotionally.
I have a personal interest in working with clients with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.).

My Usui Reiki Lineage
I have studied with and received attunements from my Reiki Master over a three year period within the Usui System of Natural Healing, the Usui Shiki Ryoho. My ability to channel Reiki comes in direct lineage from the founder of Reiki and the Usui System of Natural Healing, Dr. Mikao Usui. My lineage can be traced back to Dr. Usui in seven steps: Dr. Chujiro Hayashi
Mrs Hawayo Takata

My History
I studied Education at undergraduate level and worked in Education for 13 years from Early Years through to University level. I specialised in English Language/Language Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development in Children.I taught for just under five years in Japan where I was Head Teacher of a language school and responsible for teacher training. I then went on to teach at International school. I have also spent time teaching in Hungary.
I worked in primary schools in Britain specialising in language development and literacy, and went on to train at postgraduate level in Early Years Education. At the same time, I worked at university level training teachers to teach English language.
I have a B.A.Ed(Hons) degree, a postgraduate Certificate of Advanced Professional Studies in Language teaching (CAPS), and a postgraduate Certificate of Professional Development in Early Years Education (CPD).
For many years I have been interested in the concept of healing and the process involved in healing fully. During my years as a teacher I encountered many children who were struggling with their emotions. There was often a lot of hurt and confusion apparent. A large part of my time saw me working with these children to develop their ability to express their emotions appropriately, eliminating outbursts of anger and frustration.
My priority during this period was to understand how best to support children in their learning process. Working with children with emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties it was clear that these children were not able to absorb concepts whilst in a high state of tension and unease. It became clear to me that children could develop ways of controlling their difficult emotions but were not necessarily dealing with them and letting them go.
I became interested in techniques which enabled children to have release from their fears, and worked with a range of techniques which included breathing exercises, visualisations, affirmations, roleplay, and the use of quiet areas where the children could relax, and enjoy some restful solitude.
It was my desire to help the children develop the necessary emotional skills to be able to name, understand and express their feelings. In doing so the children gained a deeper level of understanding of themselves. It was a few steps further to help them resolve their feelings, let them go and move on.
I became aware that I and my adult peers also needed a release from our stresses. At this point I trained in the use of meditation techniques to aid relaxation, including Transcendental Meditation.
During this time I was increasingly aware of suffering from severe fatigue and a range of other disturbing symptoms. After 7 years of growing progressively more ill I was ultimately diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.). Having initially become ill whilst living in Japan it wasn't until I became severely ill with the condition that it was diagnosed. I was housebound and registered disabled.
Having exhausted all other routes towards wellness, a loving friend suggested I give Reiki a try. After many years studying and analysing how children could heal within the perameters of a classroom, my work took a different turn as I became involved with meditation practice and Reiki as a means of healing myself.
I experienced an incredible time of personal and spiritual development and discovery which saw me being attuned to Reiki at the Master Teacher level.
I believe the use of Reiki alongside more traditional approaches to relaxation, including breathing techniques and visualisations, is an extremely effective way of supporting children, young people and adults as they move towards healing.
As I am travelling on my own healing journey, I have seen the amazingly powerful benefits that Reiki has in helping people heal physically, spiritually and emotionally. I have found using reiki for self treatments instrumental in living well with the symptoms of M.E.
I love using Reiki as a means to move towards a more fulfilling life and feel extremely blessed to be able to do so. By continuing on my personal journey towards greater balance, harmony, spiritual growth and physical health I hope to support others as they embark on their own healing journeys.
